Hello,

I’m James, the maker behind James Booth Woodwork here in Hampshire. I specialise in woodturning, creating handcrafted pieces that showcase the natural beauty of real timber — from functional bowls and vases to unique decorative work and bespoke centrepieces.

My background as a rock climbing coach and scaffolder has shaped the way I work: precision, patience, and a deep respect for craftsmanship. Every project is created with careful attention to detail, from selecting the timber to the final polish.

I work with a wide range of hardwoods — ash, oak, sapele, beech, hornbeam, maple, lots of exotic woods and my signature favourite, yew. Each piece is shaped, sanded, and finished to bring out the wood’s natural character.

Whether you’re looking for a functional piece with soul or a one-of-a-kind turned object, my aim is simple:

Create honest, long-lasting craftsmanship that honours the tree it came from.
